UNABLE TO CONNECT TO WI-FREE?

Here’s what you can do

stepOutline01

CHECK WHETHER YOU ARE REGISTERED FOR WI-FREE

Without registration the connection will not work. You can register on My UPC or with the Connect App

To register with the Connect App, follow these steps:

  1. Download the UPC Connect App to your Apple or Android device and open it.
  2. Use your My UPC login credentials.
  3. Select “Wi-Free” in the bar at the bottom.
  4. Follow the instructions to activate Wi-Free.
stepOutline02

CHECK HOW FAR YOU ARE FROM THE NEAREST WI-FREE LOCATION.

If the signal is too weak, you are too far from the nearest hotspot. Here you can find your nearest Wi-Free location.

stepOutline03

CHECK WHETHER YOU ARE USING THE RIGHT PASSWORD.

Your password for Wi-Free is not necessarily the same password as for your My UPC account. However, the username is the same. If you are unsure, you can change your Wi-Free password in My UPC.

stepOutline04

MAKE SURE THAT YOUR WIFI MODEM IS ACTIVATED FOR WI-FREE.

When you register for Wi-Free on My UPC, then the wifi modem will be enabled for Wi-Free. This will overrule any prior deactivation. Here you can find step-by-step instructions for registration.

stepOutline05

CHECK WHETHER A WIFI NETWORK IS AVAILABLE THAT YOU HAVE BEEN CONNECTED TO BEFORE.

If you are at home, you cannot connect to Wi-Free, because your private wireless network at home has full power. You can connect to your wifi instead. The same is true if you are visiting friends or family and have at some time already been connected to their private wireless network.

Please be aware that most mobile devices do not indicate the exact cause of the failure to connect and that the problem cannot always be solved by UPC.
