USE OUR WORLD-WIDE WI-FREE NETWORK

UPC Internet customers can surf the Internet absolutely free of charge at around 500,000 locations in Switzerland and over 10 million locations in Europe and the USA.

Register once in My UPC as a Wi-Free user and then connect to Wi-Free hotspots as often as you like.

THIS IS HOW YOU REGISTER FOR WI-FREE

Log in to My UPC.
In My UPC, open the "My Products" section (Internet) and click on "Wi-Free".

Select a Wi-Free password.
You need the Wi-Free password e.g. if you want to connect to Wi-Free hotspots using a laptop.

THIS IS HOW YOU CONNECT TO WI-FREE HOTSPOTS

After registering, you can connect to Wi-Free hotspots via a mobile device or desktop and surf for free. To connect via a mobile device, you need the Connect App.

VIA A MOBILE DEVICE

Open the Connect App and click "Wi-Free" at the bottom of the navigation bar. A map will appear with Wi-Free hotspots near you.

Click on the desired hotspot to establish a connection.

VIA DESKTOP

Open the list of available Wi-Fi networks on your computer.

Select a "UPC Wi-Free" Wi-Fi network and enter your login data for Wi-Free when prompted. This is how you connect to the hotspot.

Does Wi-Free affect my private network's performance?

No. Your private network remains full speed. The additional Internet performance required for Wi-Free is provided by UPC.

Forgot your Wi-Free password?

You can reset your Wi-Free password at any time on My UPC under "My Products" / "Internet" / "Wi-Free".

Who can use Wi-Free?

Anyone with a Wi-Free password can access Wi-Free at any hotspot.

Which devices can I use Wi-Free on?

Any devices with a wifi receiver - iPhones, iPads, Android/Windows phones and tablets, Macs and PCs.

How secure is Wi-Free?

No one can see the traffic that is carried over Wi-Free.

Wi-Free has the same security level as your private wireless network. It uses WPA2 encryption. The security of your private wireless network is not compromised by Wi-Free.

Internet use is always the responsibility of the individual user. They are responsible for their own actions and can be held accountable for them. The owner of a Wi-Free location is not responsible for activities that occur on his or her Wi-Free location.

How can I deactivate Wi-Free?

If you have a UPC WLAN modem and do not wish to participate in Wi-Free, you can deactivate the function in My UPC. At the navigation point "My products" you select "Internet". There you can log out of Wi-Free.

However, you will no longer be able to benefit from the free Wi-Free additional service.

Important: Registering for Wi-Free will result in any existing deactivation being reversed. In this case, your modem will automatically restart to update the settings. This may take a few minutes. During the reboot, your Internet connection will cut out temporarily.

If you have a UPC modem without WLAN functionality, Wi-Free can neither be activate on your modem nor can it be activated in the future. Accordingly, there is also no possibility of deactivating Wi-Free via My UPC.

Public Wi-Free location

Free wifi for everyone: partner hotspots can also be used by non-customers. Good to know: UPC customers can also surf here as much as they want!
