SIMPLE, QUICK AND STRAIGHTFORWARD
There are various situations in which you may want to transfer your UPC services to another person, or take over those of someone else, for example if you move abroad or if a flatmate moves out.
It is possible to transfer either individual UPC products or an entire UPC account. In both cases the products remain registered at the same address.
Transferring a UPC account means that all of your UPC services such as TV, Internet, Mobile subscription including the respective customer account are completely transferred to another person.
WHAT DO I NEED FOR AN ACCOUNT TRANSFER?
It’s simplest if the current account holder submits the request at no charge in My UPC. What’s necessary:
Contact details of the new UPC account holder:
- First/last name
- E-mail address
- Home address
- Telephone number
HOW DOES AN ACCOUNT TRANSFER WORK?
CURRENT ACCOUNT HOLDER
As the current holder, you can simply transfer your UPC account to another person: either for free in My UPC or by using a form (fee: CHF 40).
We recommend submitting your request in My UPC. This saves you the processing fee, and you can handle the request quickly on your own. It’s very simple, and you are automatically guided through the individual steps:
NEW ACCOUNT HOLDER
You’d like to take over a UPC account from someone else? The current account holder requests the transfer as described. As part of the process, you as the new UPC account holder will automatically receive an e-mail in which you are asked to verify your identity through an ID check.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
As soon as the current account holder’s request has been completely recorded and the new account holder’s identity has been verified, both will receive an e-mail as confirmation. This e-mail lists all the details of the request again. Additionally, on the day before the account transfer takes place, both will receive an e-mail reminder.
CHANGE OF PLANS?
It is possible to change the date for the account transfer or to cancel the request entirely. In this case, UPC must receive notice of the change no later than one day before the planned account transfer. It’s simplest to record the change of plans in My UPC.
When will the account transfer take effect?
The account will be transferred on the date that the current account holder has indicated in their request. Until the date of the account transfer, the current account holder remains the contract partner of UPC.
Starting on the date of the account transfer, you as the current account holder will no longer have access to:
- your My UPC account
- the UPC apps you have installed (e.g. Connect App)
- messages in your voicemail box
- your UPC e-mail address that was used for accessing the UPC account
Can I also give my UPC devices to the new owner?
Yes, that is possible. However, please wait until you have first received the confirmation of the account transfer.
Can I cancel my request or change the date?
What will happen with my blue (formerly Teleclub) subscription?
If the current account holder uses a blue (formerly Teleclub) subscription which was ordered before 23 September 2020, UPC will inform blue about the change of ownership of the UPC account. Then blue can apply the change. If this is not desired, then the current UPC account holder needs to cancel the blue subscription before starting the account transfer request.
Can I also transfer my UPC Webmail address to someone else?
Yes, that is possible. When requesting an account transfer, the current account holder can tick the box indicating that they wish to transfer their UPC Webmail address to the new account holder.
Do I have to reset my TV Box to the factory settings?
In the account transfer request the current account holder can select whether the TV Box settings should be reset automatically, manually or not at all.
If the settings are not reset, then personal settings such as recordings will remain saved.
