PORT YOUR
LANDLINE NUMBER

SIMPLY TAKE YOUR NUMBER ALONG TO UPC

If you order UPC TV or Internet products that include a landline option, you can keep your old landline number. While placing the order, simply indicate that you want to port your number to UPC. You will find all further information about porting on this page.

HERE'S HOW PORTING WORKS

ORDER

Choose your new UPC products that include a landline, and mark “yes” when you are asked during the order process if you would like to port your landline number. After this you will receive an order confirmation from us, and we will send you your new devices (such as a modem or TV Box). We will also separately send you a power of attorney form.

When you order, you can select a delivery date. Your new UPC devices will be delivered on this date. This is not the date on which the number porting takes place. You will receive separate confirmation for this later.

INSTALL DEVICES & GRANT POWER OF ATTORNEY

Install your new devices (such as a modem or TV Box) soon after you receive them, and send us the signed power of attorney form. This is especially important because the porting process cannot be started until your devices are installed and you have granted us power of attorney. When this has been taken care of, it will take at least 14 days until you receive a confirmation of the porting date.

You can use your UPC landline already before number porting has taken place by forwarding calls from your old connection to a temporary UPC landline number. Find out farther down in our FAQs how to do this.

PORTING

Porting of your landline number will be carried out on the date that was confirmed. Please note that there may be temporary interruptions or connection problems on the porting date.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When will the number porting start and how long will it take?

Porting cannot start until you have installed your new UPC devices and have given us power of attorney for porting by sending us the signed form. When these conditions have been met, 14 days later at the earliest you will receive confirmation of the porting date.

In the meantime you have the option of using a temporary UPC landline number. You can find it in My UPC in the “Phone” section. Leave your landline connection installed as it is, and use the instructions of your former provider to set up call forwarding to your temporary UPC number. Then connect your telephone to your new UPC modem.

With this call forwarding you will continue to be reachable as usual. But if you call someone, this person will be shown your temporary telephone number and not your usual one.

When number porting has been completed, this forwarding will end automatically.

Do I have to cancel my contract with my current provider myself?

The date on which UPC receives the signed power of attorney form for number porting will be considered the date of receipt of the cancellation of your landline services from your previous provider.

If you also use other services from your previous provider, contact them directly to clarify anything unclear about cancelling these services. In this way you can be certain that all desired services are cancelled and any questions are answered.

Can I use my UPC landline already before the number is ported?

Yes, you have the option of using a temporary UPC landline number.

How much does it cost to port my landline number?

Porting is free of charge. However, depending on the contractual terms with your previous provider, costs may be incurred if you wish to switch on a certain date outside of the notice period.

Can I cancel or change the porting order?

Yes, please contact us by phone for this. Please note that cancelling porting is not the same thing as cancelling your UPC products. If you wish to cancel UPC products, you need to do this separately.
